Test and Model Systems for Cerebrovascular Diseases

Cerebrovascular diseases such as strokes, cerebral hemorrhage and dementia are among the most prevalent diseases of all. They are leading causes of death and place enormous strain on patients and healthcare systems. Forecasts predict that their numbers will continue to increase in the future, with one quarter of the population in 2030 over 65 years old. The group is therefore working on generating highly precise and predictive model systems in order to develop new diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.

- Modeling of cerebrovascular diseases in cell culture and animal models

- Histological, genetic and biochemical investigations

- Behavioral investigations in small animals

- Imaging

- Drug development and validation

- Therapy development and validation

- Development of diagnostic procedures

- Independent due diligence and impairment tests
